A Banking Partner and Rails of Our Own

Early in its history the group made the investment everything since has been built on. Working through Axion Exchange, it secured a banking partnership and built liquidity and payment rails under its own control.

Rails are the least visible part of an exchange and the most important. A business that borrows them lives on someone else's terms: someone else's costs, someone else's limits, someone else's risk appetite. A business that owns them decides for itself.

What it changed

Owning the rails changed what the group could build. The embeddable exchange, the card purchase flow, and later the whole of 0bit are all products that exist because settlement and payments were under the group's control.

The partnership itself remains one of the group's longest standing relationships.
